How to Play Ace to Five
Lowball
Ace to Five Lowball Rules
Ace to Five lowball (also
known as Ace to Five lowball triple draw) is
very similar to five card draw
except that Ace to Five Lowball is played using lowball
rules and there are also three draws in ace to
five lowball where as there
is only one draw in five
card draw. The best hand that you can get in
lowball poker is A-2-3-4-5. The suit of the
cards do not matter.
The
game starts out with the
two players to the left of the dealer
posting the small and big blind respectively.
The small blind is half the lower stake limit
and the big blind is equal to the lower stake
limit. For example, in a $2/$4 betting
structure, the small blind is $1 and the big
blind is $2.
Blinds are use in Ace to Five
lowball to help force the action
at the poker table. The blinds are
considered
live bets so the players who posted the blinds are
able to check in addition to raising the bet,
calling and folding.
Once the blinds
have been posted
each player is dealt five cards.
The first
of the four betting rounds begins. In every
round of betting the players can fold, check or
bet.
After the first round of
betting has ended, any players still in the hand
can discard and draw up to five new cards in
order to try and improve their hand. This is
followed by the second round of betting.
The second round of betting is
then followed by a second draw. The third round
of betting then follows.
Once the third round of
betting has been completed, the remaining
players have the option of discarding and
drawing new cards to try and improve their hand.
This is the third and final draw.
Then the final round of
betting takes place.
The showdown takes place after
the final betting round. All of the players
remaining in the hand reveal their cards and the
player with the best hand wins the pot.
