How To
Play Seven Card Stud
Poker
Seven Card
Stud is a popular and easy poker game to play.
You are dealt a total of seven cards over five
rounds. You then use five of the seven cards to
make your best five card poker hand. The player
who has the best hand wins the pot.
The game
starts out with each player at the table posting
an ante. Then each player is dealt three cards.
Two cards are dealt face down and the third card
is dealt face up.
Then the
action begins with the player who has the
highest face up card. This player must place a
forced bet. The forced bet is called the 'The
Bring In' and is similar to the blinds in Omaha
and Holdem and is used to force the action.
The action
then continues clockwise with each player having
the option of either calling, raising to the
lower limit (completing the bring in bet) or
folding. There is usually a limit of three
raises in any betting round in Seven Card Stud.
After the
first round of betting is over each player still
in the game receives another card face up.
Another round of betting then occurs beginning
with the player whose up cards are the best
hand.
Again, each
player that is still in the game receives
another card face up and is followed by another
round of betting. The betting begins with the
player whose up cards are the best hand. At this
point a total of five cards have been dealt, two
cards face down and three cards face up.
Each player
that is still in the game receives another card
dealt face up. This is the fourth card that has
been dealt face up. You will also have two cards
face down. Another round of betting follows and
again the player with the best hand showing
begins the betting round.
Now each
player that has not folded is dealt their
seventh and final card dealt face down. The
final round of betting starts with the player
who has the best hand showing.
When the final
round of betting has been completed, all
remaining players show their cards. The player
with the best five card poker hand wins the pot.
